If you have found your way to my site, then I have no doubt that you have seen at least 1 or 10 of the countless tiktok videos and facebook reels about monetising a blog. What those reels don’t explain is the amount of time taken to set up content and then get traffic to your site.
Let me spill the tea…. I started this blog in January 2023. The below stats are current as at 31 August 2023:

Each post / article: 1 to 2 hours
Note that this does not include time I spend researching / testing / trying the things that I write about

My key takeaway from this so far is that if you want to start a blog, make sure it is something that you are interested in. If not, you are not going to be able to show up consistently. This blog is proving to be a creative outlet for me. Writing about the things that I am trying and to an audience of interested people.
I an interested to see if this in fact takes off, or if it ends up being an online diary of my trials and tests. Either way, I am enjoying it and that is all that matters in the end.
